Renovation
Built in 1924, this terraced house is nestled in a leafy residential area below Wynegg in Zurich's Seefeld district. The classic residence with its beautiful garden and mature trees is extremely charming, but, in keeping with the period in which it was built, it is introverted and compact in layout.
The renovation aims to create spacious rooms that are oriented towards the outside. On the ground floor, various demolitions will create a large living-dining area facing south and the garden. Thanks to new window and door openings, the room is characterized by the beautiful garden. Visual connections are strengthened, both from the inside to the outside and via the new connection from the kitchen through the living room to the garden.
The choice of materials is based on the existing structure, but the details are contemporary and simple. Stucco ceilings, parquet flooring, and carpentry work create a harmonious feeling of space. Thanks to the new living wall, the living area retains its cozy atmosphere despite the large openings to the staircase and kitchen.
While the original room layout has been retained on the upper floor, a complete reorganization of the attic has created a spacious living and sleeping area. The roof structure has been exposed and characterizes the extra-high room with a gallery, which is accessible via the bathroom and dressing room.
