The building at Gotthardstrasse 55 was constructed around 1898 as part of the Gotthardstrasse/Alfred-Escherstrasse perimeter block development. As a representative corner building, it is opulently designed with an embossed base, a clinker façade above and ornate belt and window cornices. As part of the construction project, a protection contract will be drawn up, which is listed in the municipal inventory of buildings worthy of protection, in which the future use of the existing building will be regulated.
The overall renovation will modernize the building in terms of building technology and use. The building envelope will be made more energy-efficient. A lift will be installed. The switch to renewable energies will be completed. As part of the roof insulation, a PV system will be installed, the design of which will do justice to the historic building. The conversion of the attic floors into apartments and selective interventions on the office floors will allow more flexible and contemporary use of the premises.
