The apartment building on Seestrasse in Zurich's Enge district is nestled between Enge railway station and Rietbergpark. The existing roof structure was removed and a new roof structure was erected within a week using prefabricated timber construction elements. This created a new maisonette flat on the 3rd floor and attic. While the flat on the 2nd floor was completely renovated, only structural measures were implemented on the remaining levels.

In the area of the maisonette, a generous hatch running over two storeys is introduced as a new element. The kitchen, the access to the terrace and the stairs to the attic are all concentrated in it and form the heart of the flat. Room partitions not immediately required can be created at a later date to create a flexible use.
