The apartment building in Zurich's Enge district is a multi-generation home of the owner's family. The last renovation was more than 40 years ago. With the overall renovation, a two-story apartment will be created in the attic and in the mansard for the owner couple. The standard of construction and the new access with an elevator correspond to the exclusivity of the residential location and the apartment sizes, which are exceptional for Zurich. The replacement of the roof construction in need of renovation with new construction in wooden element design plays the living space free of posts and beams so that within the two floors a generous, partly double-story apartment can be realized. The short set-up time facilitates logistics at the downtown location. Since the building is located in the neighbourhood preservation zone, only skylights are allowed in the attic. With the incision of a courtyard within the attic, the rooms are well lit and the sleeping floor is assigned its own outdoor space of maximum privacy.
