The leitmotif of the design is the exploration of the conventional villa, implemented as a contemporary residential building: the base as a topographical element forms a terrace that mediates between the entrance level and the lower-lying garden. On top of this are two massive bodies on the living floor, which contain the more private rooms. The introverted rooms contrast with the open spatial structure that develops between the massive structures and flows smoothly from the inside to the outside. In the centre of the building, the staircase winds up to the top floor. The overhanging roof and the oval music room give the house its special expression.
The logic of the spatial structure is also followed by the materialisation, in that the granite floor and the sand-lime walls are continued from the living area to the outside. The wooden living walls give the private rooms their intimate character.
